I
grew up in the 1960s and 70s under the
influence of my artist father.

After high school in
suburban Sydney, I went to Alexander
Mackie
|
|
College of Advanced
Education, graduating with a
Bachelor of Art
Education in 1982. |
|
Underlying these years
was a deep affiliation with
Asian art, particularly
|
|
the calm grace of
Buddhist images. The
Sydney Zen
Centre
offered an |
|
introduction to Zen
Buddhist
practice that was the
opportunity for me
|
|
to
further expand
my interest in
Asian art and
culture. This influence
|
|
found
expression in
my clay hand-building work that
led to a sculpture |
|
studio
at
Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School
where I attended for four |
|
years. |
